A photography enthusiast and business owner, Laz Canny has owned Photosmith since early 2023. He previously spent six years as the photo lab’s manager, overseeing all daily aspects of the operation, from managing employees to placing orders, and four years as a lab technician. As the owner, he handles payroll and inventory, in addition to processing, scanning, and printing film. As the final quality control check, Laz Canny ensures all print orders meet Photosmith’s highest standards of quality and service.

Several of Mr. Canny’s own photos appeared in the 43rd Annual Jack Parfitt Photography Exhibition, which was displayed at Levy Gallery in August 2022. He also self-published a photo book titled Get Where We’re Going, an exploration of travel and liminal spaces in the pre-pandemic world.

To stay up to date on photography trends and topics, he maintains membership in the organization Independent Photo Imagers and attends the annual IPI conference in Las Vegas. Outside his professional pursuits, he enjoys swimming, traveling, and playing guitar.
